Studio sessions: Annick

by Ben Heys, August 15, 2013

A blast from the not too distant past now when I feature some new edits and old faves of another model who I wanted to work with for a long time and who was absolutely fantastic to work with when I got the chance. Well all apart from the choice of a feed at McEvils (after, I think) the shoot. But hey the 80/20 rule is a good one with food I reckon, so I’m just going to go ahead and assume that splurge was the 20%. I had a massive steak and a bit too much alcohol today anyway so it’s not like I can talk…

Anyway the shoot was in my regular dance studio and to thank for the following shots I have Annick for her gracious modelling, Vivien for being one of the better makeup artists I’ve worked with, Ian for use of his dance hall and Al for helping carry studio flash gear, other heavy stuff and providing beers afterward, as well as a million other little things.

The third shot here is obviously a compilation and it actually breaks a couple of the fundamental rules of a good, believable comp. However somehow I tend to think it works and is certainly up there with being one of my favorite images I’ve created thus far. For those that are interested the background was shot in Cambodia and is a short (maybe 3ft tall) stone corridor supporting a walkway into one of the Angkor era temples.

Location: Smooth Latin Groove
Flash Gear: Dynalite dynamic lighting
